PreK-3rd Grade Camps: Animals in the Spotlight You’ve seen them on the big screen and streaming on YouTube, now take a deeper dive look at animals from movies, shows and viral video clips. Campers will study the video clips before setting out into the Zoo to study the real-life behaviors and movements of animals from all over the world. Camp H2O Can a shark smell? What does a stingray eat? What is it like to touch a horseshoe crab? Campers will spend a week exploring the underwater worlds of the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park and the Texas Discovery Gardens. Nature Explorers (single-day camps) Look at the natural world around us in these single-day camps focusing on different environmental features and learn how animals use those features to their benefit. PreK-5th Grade Camps: Animal Innovators Did you know renowned innovators often drew inspiration by observing animals? Campers will learn how innovators like the Wright Brothers, Walt Disney, behavior psychologists, composers and more used the animal kingdom as inspiration for their creations. 4th-5th Grade Camps: Keeper Camp What’s it like to be an animal keeper at the Dallas Zoo? Go behind the scenes and meet zookeepers as they teach the dynamics of animal husbandry and training. Land to Sea Take a journey from land to sea without leaving Dallas! Spend three days at the Texas Discovery Gardens exploring the exciting things that live above, in, and underneath gardens. Then spend two days at the Children’s Aquarium learning about the underwater world. 6th-8th Grade Camps: Coding Camp Is your child a coding pro, or just interested in learning the basics? This camp with partner CodeStream Studios, LLC, will combine Zoo exploration and computer lab time to give campers the opportunity to learn and create a coding project centered around Dallas Zoo animals and wildlife conservation. Zoo by Design This is your chance to help us design a real Zoo exhibit! You and your Project Design Team will work with zookeepers, Zoo educations, facility operations, and others to develop ideas for a Zoo exhibit. Top Photographer Seeking all aspiring photographers and nature lovers! Using digital cameras, campers will be introduced to the basics of wildlife photography. Select photos will be featured on the Dallas Zoo website and social media! Texas Born and Bred Get your muck boots on and head to the wetlands! Spend three days at the Dallas Zoo exploring the Texas native animals all around us, then spend two days at the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center experiencing the science of wetlands and getting up close to Texas wildlife. 9th-12th Grade Camps: Career Camp Find out what it takes to be an animal keeper, veterinarian, trainer, and the many other positions at the Dallas Zoo. Go behind the scenes and meet Zoo professionals, who will teach campers the dynamics of their careers.
